Edoardo Molinari Fan Club

Edoardo Molinari

… is such a humble man and champion golfer and I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to play 36 holes with him at the US Amateur qualifier! With his dedication and perserverence, Edoardo has shot up the ranks to a top 25 world ranking in 2010 and an incredible performance at the Ryder Cup with his brother, Francesco. What a thrill!

Story of Our Friendship
In the summer of 2005, The Big Dog attempted to qualify for the US Amateur at the Hayfields Country Club outside of Baltimore, Maryland.

David was paired with another local player and a young golfer from Italy, Edoardo Molinari. This 36-hole, one day event had 77 players vying for 3 spots on a scorcher of a day and Trevor was on The Big Dog’s bag.

After 18 holes David was 1-under and in 3rd place with Edoardo at even par, the Big Dog was feeling good about his game! After a quick half-hour break, the second 18 hole began with a strong birdie start by the Big Dog and things were looking good. The great camaraderie between David, Trevor and Edoardo on that day led to a great finishing round of 67 for Edoardo and Medallist honors and a trip to Merion for the US AM!!

Yours truly barked in with his tail between his legs with a final round of 76. Afterward, Edoardo showed us pictures of Tiger and Jack from the British Open in St. Andrews where Edoardo was low amateur! He then asked Trevor if he was interested in caddying for him at the Amateur and a great friendship was born! This team then proceeded to win the US Amateur in an amazing fashion. You will have to have Trevor tell you the stories from that great week.

As a result of the win, Edoardo was invited to play in the Masters, U.S. and British Opens, the Colonial, the Memorial, and the Verizon at Hilton Head. Trevor was Edoardo’s guest at the Master’s and then was fortunate to caddy for Edoardo in two PGA tour events (Bank of America Colonial and Jack Nicklaus’ Memorial) and one Major, the US Open at Wing Foot where they were paired with Tiger Woods and Michael Campbell the first two rounds.

Trevor says, “This year was almost dreamlike or surreal although when looking at the pictures from these events he just can’t believe how he has been so blessed!”

Trevor and I would like to thank Edoardo for allowing us to share the great moments with him and in becoming such a good friend. We dedicate this fan Web site to him and wish him all the best in his professional golfing career!
